Frank Giraldo

Prof. Frank Giraldo is a Professor and Associate Chair for Research in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the Naval Postgraduate School. In addition to teaching and lecturing at the Naval Postgraduate School, Prof. Giraldo has headed up many important research projects, received numerous grants and several prestigious awards and honors for his work. The focus of his work has been in the development of accurate and efficient computer models for predicting the behavior of the atmosphere and ocean. Among his achievements, is the construction a new atmospheric model called NSEAM, currently shown to be the most accurate atmospheric model in existence.
He is also the Chairman Elect for the Naval Postgraduate School’s Faculty Council.
Prof. Frank Giraldo received BS in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and his PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia.
