Project: Creating Suspicious Disk Images

My project is divided into two subprojects. Subproject 1 is focusing on motion-to-goal and boundary-following motion. Implementing Bug 1 and Bug 2 algorithms to achieve obstacle avoidance as well. I work on MatLab writing scripts and functions to implement the algorithms. Subproject 2: I will be working with the robot create.

Computer forensics has quickly become one of the most important methods for investigating crime. With computers being used for everything these days, computer disk drives have become extremely important when investigating crimes.

Project: Improving the Performance of Low-Cost RC Servos
Intern: Aaron Lopez
Major: Physics & Astronomy
Mentor: Andres Larraza
Project: Crooke's Radiometer

Radio Control servos that are popular for prototyping in robotics but generally have very poor performance. In example, they are unable to move the heavy loads accurately while holding them steady. The goal of this project is to retrofit RC servos to improve their performance in robotic applications.

A Crooke’s Radiometer, or light mill, is a system of vanes set in a vacuum, with one side of the sheets white and the opposite side black. This contrast is necessary; when light is shone on the surface of the vanes, they rotate towards the darker surface.

Intern: Jose Rico
Major: Computer Science
Mentor: Arijit Das
Partner: David Espinosa
Project: Java Portlet

In Disaster situations, amidst the chaos and the Surprise of the unfolding events, many issues arise. Organizing the Slough of first responders, setting up a communication system with Insufficient Infrastructure are amongst the most challenging. Our Goal is to set up An Autonomous emergency Communication network for Non Gove mental Organizations (NGO’s) in Humanitarian Aid And Dis- aster Relief (HA/DR) Situations.

The purpose of our project is to create a deployable portlet. A portlet is a component within a webpage or portal that access information through the database. An example of a portlet would be a calendar “box” on a website or an instant messaging “box.” It’s use in the context of NPS is to have preexisting software incorporate these portlets being that there isn’t the ability to customize what the preexisting software can do.

Project: Creating Suspicious Disk Images

Over the course of this internship, Jeanette Rocha and Jennifer Santillo will be working on Dr. Amela Sadagic’s project, “3D Display and Capture of Humans for Live-Virtual Training”. The main goal of this project is to transfer an image on a model through a projector and have the 3D model look as realistic as it possibly can.
