LOC Wargaming Planning Event 2015 Update 1 / Admin Notes
LOC Wargaming Planning Event 2015 Update 2
MISSION: The Littoral Operations Center at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, is established to enhance the U.S. Navy’s integration of land, air, sea and undersea operations along the world’s coastlines, through interdisciplinary research and development involving all the departments and schools at NPS.
The LOC conducts and promotes the study of U.S. Navy and allied and partner nation policy, strategy and technology necessary to deal with conventional, irregular and criminal threats in these crowded and cluttered coastal waters and their adjacent lands.
The LITTORAL, or “near shore,” is where hydrography, geography, commerce, fishing, mining, boundaries, maneuver and sustainment issues converge, complicating both the Offense and the Defense, and placing exceptional demands on naval, aerial, and land forces that must operate, fight, and influence events there.

NPS Faculty, Researchers Stand Up New Littoral Operations Center
Professor of Practice and Chair of Warfare Innovation Capt Jeff Kline USN (ret) leads discussions on Littoral Operations with the Swedish National Defense College delegation.
On 12 February, the NPS Littoral Operations Center (LOC) coordinated a Littoral Operations Seminar with the participation of a Swedish naval delegation. The LOC hosted RADM Jorgen Ericsson, Swedish Defense Attaché to the U.S. and CAPT Magnus Luning Swedish Naval Attache to the U.S. along with 13 faculty and students from the Swedish National Defense College. They participated in a five hour seminar discussing littoral warfare's opportunities and challenges with NPS faculty. The discussion centered on a Baltic defense scenario but broadened to the discussion of logistics and land forces effects in the littoral. VADM Ron Route USN (ret) and NPS President along with Dr. Kalev Sepp LOC Director welcomed the delegation and Capt Jeff Kline led the proceedings which proved to be a very beneficial exchange from two very different perspective on Littoral Operations.
