REQUEST FOR EXPERIENCE SUBSPECIALTY (SSP) CODE

PERS 45E handles subspecialty management.  The normal process is to receive a SSP code when serving in a billet coded with a specific SSP code.  If billet is not coded with a SSP, you are still eligible for a SSP code.

After serving in a billet for 18 months, you may request a specific SSP code if you find that the billet aligns with the Core Skill Requirements (CSR’s) for that SSP code.

Your experience SSP code request must include:
-  Fitness reports for experience period (18 month minimum)
-  Command endorsement letter - from current command
-  E-mail address and phone number

Example of an experience SSP code request.

Once you have your package, you may mail/e-mail a single PDF copy to the PERS 45E office.  PERS 45E will take your request package and farm it out to subject matter experts.  The Subject Matter Experts will then adjudicate within 30 days of receiving your request
