Basic Counts (U.S. Census Bureau)
This basic count page from the U.S. Census Bureau provides information on current and historical population counts, population projections, the differences between urban and rural populations, population density, and persons living in group quarters. Other demographic information is prepared on this website including: age, gender, disability, income, race and ethnicity.

Fact Sheet (American Community Survey)
Find specific facts about average household size, family size, population by age
groups and gender.

             Occupancy data and structural characteristics.

Thematic Maps

Historical Census Browser (University of Virginia)
This webpage, maintained by the Univ. of Virginia, provides user-friendly access to historical census collections drawn from the U.S. Census of Population and Housing.

This is a very easy to use database with hundreds of population characteristics and variables for the U.S. and the world. Data can be displayed as rankings, maps or bar graphs.

International

City Population
City Population offers statistics and maps about the population of the countries and their principal cities.

Demographic and Social Statistics (United Nations)
The UN website organizes links to data for population, international migration, social security and welfare, distribution of income, and family formation statistics. Most of the data is organized by continent or country and area.

GeoHive
Statistical data organized by continent, country, and links to official statistical agencies to most countries of the world. GeoHive provides population statistics of regions, countries, provinces and cities.

U.S. Census Bureau (Int’l Database) The International database provides world population data including global population trends, links to historical population estimates, population clocks. The website also offers database for country-specific searches to find information dating back to 1950.

World Christian Database (WCD) WCD offers researchers detailed statistics on Christian traditions and denominations, as well as, socio-demographic statistics for every country and United Nations region.

World Religion Database (WRD) This database provides a breakdown of major religions into
traditions (e.g. the WRD demonstrates a Sunni-Shia breakdown for every country where
Muslims reside). WRD provides access to source material on religious affiliation (censuses and surveys). It offers best estimates at multiple dates for each of the world’s religions for the period 1900 to 2050.
