This online course is required for all travelers before traveling, starting on 1 July 2015. It is also required by all AOs and ODTAs before 1 July 2015.

This class, and the ODTA class on the right, are both required prior to being designated an ODTA. Completion of the Travel Policies course before taking the ODTA course is required.

This basic version of the course is available here by clicking the Link above. This course is provided for travelers who do not reside in Monterey. It consists of the complete course, but without the hands-on exercises.
NOTE: Before taking the course, you should download the student handouts and procedural trifolds.
You must be logged into the NPS Intranet either directly or through the Virtual Private Network in order to access the course.

"ODTA. Other individuals within local organizations, who work with the LDTA and/or FDTA to assist new personnel in self-registering in DTS, assist travelers with the use of DTS, and ensure efficient use of the Help Desk processes. ODTAs will be required to complete the DTS ODTA Course given as required by the DTS Instructor. 

Upon completion of this course, each ODTA candidate will be given a practical test during which they will have to successfully create a travel authorization and a travel voucher using input from the instructor. 

Upon successful completion of this test, the instructor will request the NPS DTS help desk to grant group access so that the ODTA can create DTS documents for supported travelers.

The ODTA class covers a description of DTS traveler self-registration, DTS administration, the duties of an ODTA, and a description of the administrative modules available to the ODTA. The class size is limited to twelve students.

DTS Authorizing Official (AO)

Schedule:  One-on-one basis

This one-on-one training is appropriate for those in management positions who will approve travel authorizations for travelers on their staffs. This training session includes a review of the rules of travel from the JTR/JFTR, and a hands-on exercise in approving an authorization.
