VPN Access for Apple OSX Users

The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client supports OS X version 10.4 or later, with either PowerPC or Intel processors.

NOTE: The main VPN system "bouncer.nps.edu" is currently down. The temporary fix is to change your configuration to use "rounder.nps.edu" using the instructions below:

To download and run the VPN Client:

  1. Make sure you have administrator rights on your computer.
  2. Open "https://rounder.nps.edu" in your browser.
  3. When prompted, enter your NPS account name and password.
  4. Accept the banner announcement by clicking "continue".
  5. The client will be automatically downloaded and installed.

To disconnect from the VPN:

  1. Click on the "Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client" icon on the menu bar
  2. Select "Disconnect"

To connect to the VPN after the client has been installed:

  1. Double click on the "Macintosh HD" desktop icon, then click on "Applications -> Cisco -> Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client".
  2. Enter your NPS account name and password when prompted.

To enable access to your local (home) network devices:

  1. Click on the "Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client" icon on the menu bar
  2. Select "Bring AnyConnect to front"
  3. On the menu bar click on "Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client" (next to the Apple icon at the left", then select "Preferences".
  4. Make sure that "Enable local LAN access" is checked, then click "Save"

(This allows addresses in the 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255 range to be sent to your local network.)
