This class is appropriate for travelers who wish to prepare their own travel authorizations and vouchers. It includes an introduction to the Defense Travel System followed by hands-on exercises in preparing a travel authorization and a travel voucher (claim.) The class size is limited to twelve students. This class, and the ODTA class on the right, are both required prior to being designated an ODTA. Completion of the User course before taking the ODTA course is required. Other individuals within local organizations, who work with the LDTA and/or FDTA to assist new personnel in self-registering in DTS, assist travelers with the use of DTS, and ensure efficient use of the Help Desk processes. ODTAs will be required to complete the DTS User and the DTS ODTA Courses given monthly by the DTS Instructor. DTS Authorizing Official (AO)
Schedule: One-on-one basis
This one-on-one training is appropriate for those in management positions who will approve travel authorizations for travelers on their staffs. This training session includes a review of the rules of travel from the JTR/JFTR, and a hands-on exercise in approving an authorization.
