New President's Student Council Officers Look Ahead
Information warfare student U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Thomas Kulisz takes the helm as chair of the President's Student Council (PSC). Kulisz, along with fellow Marine and PSC Vice Chair Maj. Paul Webber, look to strengthen the connection between students, faculty and leadership during their time in charge of NPS' student collective.
"My primary, long-term goal is to turn over a stronger and more cohesive bond between the students, faculty and administration to my successor," said Kulisz. "Marine Corps Capt. Samuel Hong, Senior Chief Information System Technology Robert LaBrenz, and their predecessors did a great job setting us up for success. Now, Maj. Paul Webber and I are excited to help complete some of their initiatives, as well as kick off a few of our own."
Recognizing students' preference for mobile communications, Kulisz and Webber are looking at ways to take advantage of mobile to get the word out. Still, the duo says they want to keep the personal touch by working with and for members of the NPS family in person.
"We can work to increase the digital footprint by adding a slack channel or other medium so that people can get information and feedback more quickly," said Kulisz. "But Paul and I want to also make sure that we are 100 percent approachable, and are eager to speak with anyone that would like to speak to us."
Kulisz and Webber understand that student-life at NPS can be extremely busy, but with the help of student services and open communication, they hope to keep students well informed of activities that will further their education.
"The President's Student Council is only as strong as its membership and student participation," said Kulisz. "I encourage people to reach out to Paul and myself so that we can get you tied in and capitalize on your input."
