NPS Enlisted Staff Prepare for Return to Operational Force in Lemoore
By Javier Chagoya
Petty Officers 2nd Class Joshua Anderson, left, and Brandon Misiewicz, right, are both recipients of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for contributions to NPS. And both will soon be reporting to the same Naval Air Station after serving three years in the university’s Information Technology and Communications Services (ITACS) department.
Anderson is recognized for his exceptional technical ability, which ensures that the school’s audio visual equipment and facilities are maintained and ready to support the more than 5,000 personnel on campus.
“What I really liked about NPS is that I was able to interact with VIPs and distinguished visitors from each branch of our military,” said Anderson. “I had to make sure their presentations were going to appear properly, as they expected them to, and to make sure their audience could hear them clearly over the public address system that I would set up.”
Anderson, a native of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, will be reporting to Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore to work at VFA -137’s Avionics Shop.
Misiewicz received a Gold Star in lieu of his fourth Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Award. He is recognized for the implementation of seven new servers and the issuing of 620 secured Internet protocol router tokens, which greatly improves NPS’ mission readiness within the Systems Technology Battle Lab.
“I’ve served on USS Essex and USS Bonhomme Richard prior to coming here, and I must say that serving in the academic environment at NPS has given me an opportunity to grow in other ways,” said Miciewicz. “I loved living on the Monterey Peninsula so much, I’m giving it some thought to return and maybe retire here someday.”
Misiewicz is a native of Chesapeake, Va., and is looking forward to further development opportunities at Carrier Air Group 9, also at NAS Lemoore.
