I was born in Louisville Kentucky. I graduated high school in Fredericksburg VA and attended Old Dominion University earning a bachelors degree in Finance and a commission as a Second Lieutenant of Armor in the US Army in 1993. I was designated as a Simulation Operations Officer in 2002 and attended NPS to study MOVES. Upon graduation I deployed to Iraq. Upon return from Iraq I was put in charge of the Simulation Operations Functional Area for the Army. I left Washington DC in 2011 to pursue a PhD in MOVES at NPS which I obtained in 2014. After completing a utilization tour as a human performance and learning scientist at the Army Capabilities Integration Center, FT Eustis VA, I was reassigned to NPS as the Deputy Director of the MOVES Institute. I have both operational and educational experience in the application, integration, and analysis of various models, training aids, devices, simulators, and computer simulations that support the development of expertise, testing, experimentation, product development, and decision-making. I have managed organizations ranging in size from two to 150+ personnel with budgets of several thousand to several million dollars. I enjoy writing, reading, and functional exercise. I have a dog, a cat, 2 sons and a wife of 21 years.
