Dr. Heather Clifton is a Faculty Research Associate at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Dr. Clifton is a member of the research team in the Crew Endurance and Stress Laboratory, where she manages the Physical Performance Testing and Biomarker Analysis components of the lab, and assists with both field- and lab-based studies, as well as student thesis and dissertation research projects.<br><br>Prior to coming to NPS, Dr. Clifton was a Fellow with the Department of Veterans Affairs Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was involved in studies investigating pharmaceutical and nutriceutical interventions to improve cardiovascular health and exercise capacity in patients with vascular dysfunction and autonomic dysregulation. <br><br>Dr. Clifton has a Doctoral degree in Integrative Physiology and Masters degree in Exercise Science, both from the University of California, Davis. She has research and teaching experience in the areas of exercise physiology, cardiovascular physiology, autonomic function, environmental effects on human performance, biomechanics and anthropometrics, cellular signaling and markers of stress and inflammation. <br><br>Dr. Clifton is currently involved in research assessing stress, fatigue and performance in Naval Operations.
