After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1990, Mr. Warren Yu served aboard three U.S. Navy ships including the Seventh Fleet flagship out of Yokosuka, Japan, an AEGIS guided missile cruiser out of Mayport, Florida, and an amphibious command ship out of Norfolk, Virginia.

For three years he served as the Chief Innovation Officer at the U.S. Navy’s Center for Executive Education where he sponsored provocative, disruptive discussions with over 350 Navy admirals and DOD senior executives on technology, fiscal management, leadership, change management and talent management. His first NPS Master’s thesis was on “The Impact of Web Technology on Customer Information Flow” and his second articulated how to “Cultivate Innovation to Ignite Organizational Transformation."

He interned at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency before directing exploratory projects at Fleet Numerical, Meteorology, and Oceanography Center, the U.S. Navy’s premier operational supercomputing and weather forecasting center that ingests 6 million weather observations a day to produce 720,000 unique products every 24 hours.

While detailed to the U.S. Army in Baghdad, Iraq, he oversaw an Internet service provider, a satellite brokerage, and 3 phone services for 1,000 customers across 50 federal and international organizations.

He was NPS’ first webmaster (1999) and served as its Director of Corporate Relations (2007) before being selected to be the Information Professional Center of Excellence’s Director (2008). He retired from active duty to launch a new marketplace for America’s human resources with Apple’s Chief Talent Officer.

Mr. Yu is currently the Chief Learning Officer for the Cebrowski Institute for Innovation. He was the United States Naval Academy's 2015 Cyber Security Awareness capstone speaker for 300+ faculty, staff and midshipmen in October 2015 on the topics of privacy, security, convenience, innovation, balance, and learning.
