Teacher Reunites with Student in Afghanistan

NPS National Security Affairs Prof. James Russell (right) and Captain Bobby Davis (left), who graduated with a master’s degree in National Security Affairs in 2007, have reunited in Afghanistan at combat outpost Tereyza in Khost Province, Afganistan. Tereyza is located 11 kilometers from the Pakistan border. Davis commands Company D from the 3-509 that has been operating in Khost Province for the last year. Davis is hosting Russell, who is doing research on military innovation and adaptation by US forces leading counterinsurgency operations in Afghanistan. After 12-months, Russell continues to circulate around Khost Province doing a broader study of operations by the 4th Brigade/25th Infantry Division.
