MCBH K-Bay - Center for Infrastructure Defense
CIRCA - MCBH Kāne'ohe Bay
To align the resilience needs for Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) and DoD installations in Hawaii and prepare both civilian and military communities to survive future extreme events.
Project Benefits
Fully Funded and Managed Project
CIRCA is independently funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program. CIRCA - Hawaii supports MCBH and other DoD installations in Hawaii to manage infrastructure failures and help local communities with emergency response.
Stakeholder Driven Analysis
Communities on Oahu rely on just-in-time supplies (e.g., food) with limited storage. The CIRCA - Hawaii team will model the capacity of land, sea, and air-based supply chains on Oahu to support military installations and local communities.
Achieve Mission and Community Resilience
The output of the work will be mission-informed models for last-mile supply chains given disruptions due to climate change. This work bolsters installation and community resilience by helping protect and preserve military readiness and by enhancing civilian and military communication and response for future disasters.
