MCRD Parris Island

CIRCA - MCRD Parris Island

To align the resilience needs for Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (MCRD) and prepare both civilian and military communities to survive future extreme events.

Project Benefits

Fully Funded and Managed Project

CIRCA is independently funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program. CIRCA - Parris Island supports MCRD Parris Island with managing interdependent infrastructure failures and future climate disasters.

Stakeholder Driven Analysis

The primary training mission at MCRD Parris Island can be disrupted when when wastewater infrastructure services fail. The goal of this research is to determine how long the sewage system can operate and how fast it can recover when blackouts disrupt pump stations.

Achieve Mission and Infrastructure Resilience

This work will produce models that measure how long the sewage system can be disrupted before the training mission is impacted. This work will provide recommendations on how to improve installation energy and water resilience.
