CDR Mark Giralmo

Command Chaplain



Chaplain Mark A. Giralmo hails from Seattle, WA.  After graduation from High School, CDR Giralmo attended the University of Washington, Class of 85'.  He finished his graduate theological education at the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University, Los Angeles, CA in 89'.  In 1998 Chaplain Giralmo completed a Ph.D in Education Administration from Oxford University, St. George online extension program for professionals. Prior to becoming a Navy Chaplain, CDR Giralmo owned two small businesses in California as well as completing 21 years of full time pastoral ministry. On November 7, 2002, Chaplain Giralmo was commissioned on his fathers’ 80th birthday then off to Chaplain School in Newport, RI. From 2003 to 2005 Chaplain Giralmo served as Command Chaplain onboard the USS Denver (LPD 9), home ported in San Diego, CA.  His second tour of duty was with MCAF and the Presidential Helicopter Squadron, Marine One (HMX 1) in Quantico, Virginia. He also served as the FBI Chaplain for three years. From October 2008 to April 2011 Chaplain Giralmo served as Command Chaplain Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 31, Beaufort, SC.  From June 2011 to July 2014 served as the USCG District 11, Command Chaplain, Alameda, CA. From July 2014 to July 2017 served as the Command Chaplain at NATTC, Pensacola, FL.  Commander Giralmo reported to NSAM/NPS as Command Chaplain on August 2017. His personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals, one Air Force Commendation Medal, One Navy Achievement Medal and One Coast Guard Achievement Medal. Chaplain Giralmo has been married to his awesome and beautiful wife, Sonja for 30 years, and together they have five children; Brigetta (27), Sterling (24), Gabrielle (22), Stetson (20), and Natalja (17).  With the spare time Chaps enjoys playing golf.

Fr. Dominic-Joseph R. Castro

Catholic Priest

Fr. Castro was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1998 and has served in a variety of ministries: parish ministry; college campus ministry; prison ministry.  Fr. Castro graduated from Saint Patrick Seminary in Menlo Park, California after completing undergraduate courses and graduate courses at Oblate College of Philosophy and Theology in Washington, DC.  He has a B.A. degree in Philosophy and a Masters in Divinity. Fr. Castro has been the Catholic priest at Naval Support Activity Monterey since 2011.


RP1 Isaiah Linares

Command Religious Program Manager

Religious Program Specialist first class Isaiah Linares is originally from California is married and has a daughter.  He enjoys traveling with his family and has visited China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. He served with Carrier Strike Group Ten onboard the USS Harry S. Truman where he deployed to the Persian Gulf and Indian ocean in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  His second tour of duty was overseas onboard Marine Corps Airstation Futenma in Okinawa where he supported 1st Marine Air Wing in humanitarian missions to South East Asia.  RP1 Linares reported on board Naval Support Activity Monterey as Command Religious Program Coordinator on December 2017.
