Having completed a BSc in Sports Science & Health (Dublin City University, Ireland), an MSc in Applied Sport & Exercise Psychology (Bangor University, Wales), and a PhD in Human Factors & Performance (Dublin City University, Ireland) which was funded through the prestigious Irish Research Council, Anna Donnla is currently undertaking a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Crew Endurance and Stress Laboratory at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
 
She is interested in research in high pressure/emergency situations particularly in factors affecting performance such as sleep and stress, and methods of maximizing training and performance. Anna Donnla is presently investigating research on ‘Sleep Inertia Mitigation’, identifying and testing mitigation strategies for reducing sleep inertia when individuals are awoken from deep sleep and required to perform complex tasks in emergency situations.
