Operational Energy Certificate: Unmanned Systems Persistence
CURRICULUM 117
The Naval Postgraduate School is pleased to announce the Operational Energy Certificate: Unmanned Systems Persistence beginning Winter Quarter AY2026. The Certificate is sponsored by OPNAV. The certificate program is an accredited graduate program that consists of four on-line courses, delivered one course per quarter for four quarters.
Eligibility
The program is open to all U.S. uniformed military personnel, federal civilian employees, and a limited number of defense industrial contractors. All applicants must have earned a Bachelor’s degree. To be selected for admittance applicants must demonstrate a sufficient background in General Physics and Probability and Statistics.
Delivery
Each course is delivered asynchronously via a web-based system known as Sakai. Sakai is the repository of all course materials. Instructors will create weekly modules for students to access and complete. These modules include syllabus, reading materials, power point slides, recorded lectures, homework assignments with solutions, quizzes, and exams.
Tuition
The Certificate is a "tuition-free" curriculum sponsored by the OPNAV. Applicants are required to include a Participation Agreement with their application. The Participation Agreement needs to be signed by the applicant's supervisor, HR, or Training Officer representative. Students are responsible for purchasing their own textbooks.

These sites provide detailed information about the Application Process and Requirements. The Certificate is curriculum 117. Candidates are applying to begin in Winter Quarter, Academic Year 2023. An application and participation agreement due July 2025.
