Faculty


IDARM program offerings are developed and taught by faculty of the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) located in Monterey, California. NPS faculty are also supported by subject matter experts from other graduate-level institutions. As a fully accredited graduate institution, the Naval Postgraduate School attracts faculty with the broad range of educational backgrounds, professional experience and research interests required to respond to the diverse and changing defense acquisition management education challenges associated with the international security environment.

Mr. Herway was educated at the University of Maryland, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree, and Brigham Young University, where he received a Master of Arts degree. He began his career as a Contracting Management Intern at the General Services Administration in Washington, D.C., where he had rotational assignments in the Public Building Service and Federal Supply Service.  Mr. Herway then transferred to the Naval Air Systems Command in Arlington, Virginia, where he was involved in major aircraft weapon systems acquisitions.  His assignments at NAVAIR included the acquisition of an undergraduate jet flight training system and S-3 Anti- Submarine Warfare aircraft, the Principal Contracting Officer (PCO) for aircraft engines from the General Electric Aircraft Engines Business Group, and PCO for the V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft.  His last assignment at NAVAIR was as the Chief of the Rotary Winged Aircraft and Aircraft Engines Branch in the Combat Aircraft Contracts Division. He served as the Chief of Contracts at the NATO Communications and Information Agency in Brussels, Belgium, until his retirement from government service. Mr. Herway is currently living in Rome, Italy, where he is the Director of a large charity organization working on humanitarian projects in coordination with the other Non-Governmental Organizations operating in Italy.
