Teaching Plan

The downloadable teaching plans for IRIS is now available. The teaching plans include all IRIS courses currently planned, along with courses from other NPS departments that satisfy core or elective requirements for IRIS curricula. Information about when and where classes meet is not included, since that is not available until a few weeks prior to the start of each quarter and will be posted by NPS Scheduling Office under Class Schedules.

The IRIS teaching plan is updated at least once per quarter. The comments column on the right-hand side of the plan will highlight changes since the previous version was posted.

General Strategy Requirement for Navy FAOs

To broaden FAO education beyond a purely regionally focus, Navy FAO community leadership has directed that Navy FAO students in IRIS degree programs include at least one course addressing each of the following six strategic themes: 

1.    Maritime Strategy and Operations
2.    Political Economy
3.    Information and Influence
4.    Technology
5.    Security Cooperation
6.    Wargaming
