The Flag Development Program (FLAG DEV) comprises both NEDP and Joint Warfighter Development Program (JWDP). This section lists and describes the various JWDP courses for Navy flag officers. N00F is responsible for scheduling these courses.

PINNACLE
  • Sponsor: CJCS/NDU
  • Target Audience: 2 & 3 stars targeted to become future JTF Commanders.
  • Description: Prepare senior G/FO (and equivalent rank civilians) for comand of joint and coalition forces and senior political-military positions.

CAPSTONE
  • Sponsor: CJCS/NDU
  • Target Audience: Newly selected 1-stars.
  • Description: The course objective is to make these individuals more effective in planning and employing US forces in joint and combined operations.

Joint Forces Maritime Component Commander Course (C/JFMCC)
  • Sponsor: CNO / Naval War College
  • Target Audience: O-7 / O-8 (pre & post Carrier Strike Group Commanders).
  • Description: Operationalize the ForceNet pillar of Sea Power 21 and develop the comprehensive understanding of networked forces naval commanders will need to command and control forces in the joint, coalition, and interagency environment.

Joint Forces Land Component Commander Course (JFLCC)
  • Sponsor: Training and Doctrine Command / Army War College
  • Target Audience: O-7 / O-8 en route to Carrier Strike Group Command.
  • Description: The course prepares senior officers to function effectively as Land Component Commanders for theater-level operations conducted in a joint, multinational, and interagency environment.

Joint Flag Officer Warfighting Course (JFOWC)
  • Sponsor: Service Chiefs / Air University
  • Target Audience: Select O-8.
  • Description: It is tailored to provide our future theater combatant commanders, service component and Joint Task Force (JTF) commanders with a broad perspective of the strategic and operational levels of war.

Joint Forces Air Component Commander Course (JFACC)
  • Sponsor: Service Chiefs / Air University
  • Target Audience: O-7 / O-8.
  • Description: The course is designed to prepare potential JFACCs for theater-level combat leadership responsibilities. The attendees study warfighting, military doctrine, and the application of unified, joint, and combined combat forces with particular emphasis on air and space power employment in theater-level operations.

Coalition Forces Air Component Commander Course (CFACC)
  • Sponsor: Service Chiefs / Air University
  • Target Audience: O-7 / O-8.
  • Description: The attendees study operational-level warfighting, military doctrine and the application of joint and combined combat forces with particular emphasis on air and space power employment in theater-level operations.

Senior Joint Information Operations Application Course (SJIOAC)

  • Target Audience: O-7 / O-8.
  • Description: It is designed to prepare flag officers and civilian equivalents for leadership responsibilities in the planning and execution of information operations.
