Senior Intelligence Officer, U.S. Navy Senior Information Warfare Community Officer

CAPT Bone is currently assigned as the Information Warfare Chair/Senior Intelligence Officer at the Naval Postgraduate School.  His previous assignment was to United States European Command, Intelligence Directorate, Division Chief for Plans (ECJ2P), responsible for intelligence planning support to theater plans and operations, targeting, and battlespace awareness capabilities and requirements.  A graduate from North Carolina State University, he earned his commission via Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps in December 1990. His sea duty assignments include multiple deployments while assigned as Communications Officer onboard USS JOSEPHUS DANIELS (CG 27),  Fire Control Officer onboard USS THOMAS S. GATES (CG 51),  and Assistant Targets Officer & Collections Officer on the Commander, U.S. 6th FLEET.  His most recent sea duty assignment was as Intelligence Officer onboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). 

His shore assignments include duties as Asian Tactical Watch Officer and Navy-Marine Corp Liaison at Joint Intelligence Center Pacific, International Program Team Lead & Deputy Collections Requirements Department Head at the Office of Naval Intelligence, Staff Officer at U.S. Joint Staff Directorate for Intelligence (J2), Combatant Command Deputy Division Chief at Defense Intelligence Operations Coordination Center, and the Division Head, Information Dominance Corps Advisory Division on the staff of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, Information Warfare (OPNAV N2N6). Additionally, he was the Senior Navy Fellow at the Atlantic Council.

CAPT Bone graduated from Naval Postgraduate School in 2013, Joint Forces Staff College’s Joint and Combined Warfighting School in 2010, and the U.S. Naval War College’s College of Naval Command and Staff in 2005. He has earned a B.A. in Political Science, a M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies, and an Executive Masters in Business Administration.  CAPT Bone is a qualified Information Warfare Officer, Surface Warfare Officer, and is designated a Joint Qualified Officer.  He has national security and resource management sub-specialties.

In additional to multiple personal awards, CAPT Bone was the 1999 Naval Intelligence Junior Officer of the Year (Naval Forces Europe) and awarded the Rear Admiral Edwin T. Layton Award for Leadership and Mentorship.
