Inspired by the Secretary of the Navy’s call for a “whole of country” approach, America's Sea Land Air Military Research Initiative (SLAMR) was created to address the rising technical and technological sophistication of potential adversaries. Initiated with a seed grant from the Naval Postgraduate School Foundation and Alumni Association, SLAMR seeks to catalyze rapid experimentation and prototyping with private sector, academia, and government teams to accelerate identification, and adoption or adaption of emerging technologies for national security.
The video below illustrates one way SLAMR and the Naval Postgraduate School are working with private sector partners to facilitate nationwide science and technology community collaboration. AeroVironment, AT&T, Liquid Robotics, Ocean Power Technologies, Houston Mechatronics, Inc., and Kaman Aerospace Corporation are partnering with SLAMR to demonstrate new applications of technologies, strengthen collaborative research and development, and accelerate technology delivery for national defense and commercial applications.
