Educate Warfighters Prepare leaders through wargaming coursework integrated into graduate education, operational planning, and decision making. Wargaming Center is a multi-disciplinary program, incorporating expertise and knowledge from a range of departments and practice areas across NPS. Applied Research Connect sponsor problems, faculty expertise, and student work to generate operationally relevant analysis.  Wargaming Center goes beyond identifying gaps, it provides tactical expertise to offer, test and execute practical and actionable solutions by executing Campaign of Learning. Innovation in Wargaming Advance methods, modeling and simulation, AI, and data-driven analysis to improve wargame fidelity and insight. Wargaming Center serves as an NPS accelerator for producing real outcomes, transforming innovative (and student-driven) concepts into real-world warfighting applications. Execute Wargames Design and deliver rigorous wargames that inform strategy, support readiness, and address sponsor objectives. Wargaming Center develops student led, sponsor led and Chief of Naval Operations directed wargames and ensures compliance with the Naval Analytical Master Plan by synchronizing interdepartmental efforts and operational workflows.

The NPS Wargaming Center integrates education, research, and execution to support operational decision-making and future force development.

  • Graduate education grounded in practice – Students apply wargaming to real-world problems, developing the ability to design, execute, and analyze games tied to operational needs.
  • Operationally relevant, sponsor-driven research – Faculty and students work directly with sponsors to address current challenges, producing analysis that informs planning and decision-making.
  • Innovation in wargaming methods and tools – The Center advances techniques in game design, adjudication, modeling, and data analysis to improve the rigor and utility of wargames.
  • Execution of high-impact wargames – The Center conducts wargames supporting the Navy, Marine Corps, Joint Force, and partners across a range of operational and strategic problems.
  • Data-driven insights for decision advantage – Outputs are structured and analyzed to support readiness, force development, and operational planning.
