Current Research Programs
Dr. Gemba conducts research in experimental ocean acoustics and physics-informed signal processing. He is interested in:
- Acoustic signal and array processing in the presence of environmental noise
- Statistical signal processing and passive detection / localization of low-level acoustic sources
- Using transiting surface ships as sources of opportunity or environmental noise for the purpose of array- and environmental-parameter characterization
Available Thesis Topics
- Detection and localization of submerged sources in deep water environments
- Environmental noise characterization
- Investigations into the interaction between Oceanography and Acoustics
- Signal processing evaluation of sensor systems
- Acoustic remote sensing of the ocean
