Discover NPS Day is an amazing opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the cutting-edge graduate education and research happening across the university campus every day. And there is so much to discover!
On Discover NPS Day 2018, you’ll be able to reconnect with the local history of the Hotel Del Monte, understand how NPS supports our nation’s security through broad expertise in several critical disciplines, and learn a bit more about the military branches of our U.S. Armed Forces, and those of our international partners.

Did you know 17-Mile Drive used to start at NPS? Learn more about the historic Hotel Del Monte, and the incredible venue for outdoor recreation and hospitality that once occupied the NPS campus.
Of course, what would Discover NPS Day be without laser shows, virtual reality, combat robotics, 3D printing, nitrogen cannons and much more!
Hear how a current or former U.S. astronaut executes a mission in space, and what lies ahead as the U.S. space program looks beyond low-earth orbit.
What is CHUNK learning? Does sleep really impact performance? How much? Check out active venues demonstrating the innovative thinking underway at NPS.
Learn more about the Navy, Army, Air Force and Marine Corps, and our special operations forces and select international partners too. Venues across campus will showcase how military members apply what they learn and research here at NPS in service to our nation.
What does it take to catch the world’s most wanted terrorist? And how does the U.S. work with our partners abroad? NPS faculty are world recognized experts, and pass a deep understanding of these issues, and their roles in security, to our students.
School Registration for Discover NPS Day is Now Closed!
1. Discover NPS Day 2018 is tailored to 5th - 12th grade students throughout the local region. In addition to last year’s STEM activities, we hope to engage our visitors with an introduction to critical research underway across the entire campus, and expose these students to new ideas and global issues.
2. School groups will be escorted by an NPS Ambassador to a pre-determined selection of 3-6 venues, depending on how long your group can stay. Group sizes will be up to 30 students. If you have special requests, let us know about them.
3. We’re targeting two select arrival windows to accommodate our keynote speakers. Arrival windows are tentatively scheduled from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., and 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
4. A location to eat lunch can be provided to all attendees. Schools can also participate in a pre-paid hot lunch for $5/person with advanced registration.
