Welcome to the NPS Travel Office Website

The NPS Travel Office requires that requests for action be submitted at least ten business days prior to a traveler's estimated departure date in most cases.  Submissions within ten business days of departure may be subject to denial based on current workload, system access, or other conditions beyond the control of the Travel Office.

Foreign nationals assigned to NPS required a minimum of fifteen business days lead time because of the requirement to process travel outside of DTS.

Student travel is processed with the understanding that the individual student has made the required notifications to individuals and offices that need to know the student will be away from NPS.  These individuals may include, but are not limited to:

  • Student Services

  • Program Officers

  • Faculty Members

  • Deputy/Dean of Students

  • Security Manager's Office

  • Department Administrative Staff

  • Command Administration

  • International Graduate Programs Office

Navy Students - Please coordinate with Student Services to secure LOA. Once provided, the NPS Travel Office can assist with entering

Navy Faculty/Staff - Please request funding authorization from the Chief of Staff by way of Command Administration. Once provided, the NPS Travel Office can enter the LOA for you in DTS.

Non-Navy Services - Please coordinate with your support detachment (i.e. MARDET or Fort Jackson) to request that your Service's medical LOA be made available to you via DTS cross-organizational line of accounting.

The NPS Travel Office specializes in temporary duty (TDY/TAD) travel and civilian PCS.  For Service members requiring PCS assistance or guidance, please utilize one of the following:

2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information for Travelers

Effective 19 March, the Department of State has issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory.  As a result, all travelers currently overseas are to immediately terminate travel and return home.  Please call SATO at 855-744-4659 to make arrangements to immediately return home.  Use of the GTCC is required. For assistance, please call the NPS DTS Help Desk at 844-615-7295 for assistance.  DOS Global Health Advisory - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/travel-advisory-alert-global-level-4-health-advisory-issue.html

Effective 16 March 2020 through 11 May 2020, DON Military Personnel and Civilian Employees will stop movement, which effectively cancels all TDY and PCS travel during that period.

Travel by patients and medical providers for the purposes of medical treatment for DON personnel and their family members is authorized.

Waivers may be granted by the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) for compelling cases where travel is: (1) determined to be mission essential; (2) necessary for humanitarian reasons; and (3) warranted due to extreme hardship.  Waiver-granting authority below CNO is undetermined at this time.
