Our students, both U.S. and international, as well as our partner organizations in DOD and law enforcement, are the foundation of our three pillars of efforts: research, graduate-level courses, and outreach and education.
Mission:
To lead the DOD in educating and supporting the research of U.S. and foreign military officers using advanced methodologies and cutting-edge analytic technologies. The Lab employs social media, social network, geospatial, temporal, textual analyses, and system dynamics. We enable academics, students, and operational practitioners to collect, manage, and fuse data to create a more complete picture of the common operational environment. Our niche is bridging the gap between theory and operational capability. Our extensive outreach and education program allows us to learn with federal, state, and tribal governments, as well as foreign allies and partners.

Our Courses and Research
The Lab’s expertise, as well as its emphasis in its courses and research, is in system dynamics, geospatial, temporal, and relational analyses. The Lab conducts research with practitioners in fields such as:

Certificate in Social Network Analysis, Research, and Practice
The Academic Certificate in Social Network Analysis, Research, and Practice provides students with social network analysis’s methodological, theoretical, and analytical tools that can be employed in a various contexts, such as tracking and disrupting dark networks (e.g., terrorist networks, drug cartels), examining key regional and global networks at the forefront of great power competition, enhancing light networks, influencing resistance (social) movements, and uncovering “narratives” from social media.
