The DOD’s Information Strategy Research at NPS gathered a community of experts for the Symposium on Information Strategy and Political Warfare, June 22–24, to examine Great Power Competition for Geographic and Strategic Reach. The symposium is conducted on a yearly basis and this year’s event covered an array of topics, all crucial to the coming fight with our great power adversaries in the cyber domain and the information environment. The first day of panels discussed the ongoing “free speech versus disinformation” debate, followed by a panel discussing how the public and private sectors can better work together for the national interest. The second day the panels took on regions all around the world, with a panel on GPC in the Pacific Rim, the Arctic, and the regions of the Middle East and Central Asia. The third day wrapped up with a panel on GPC in the Global South and closed with a speaker discussing future technologies and the social will to use them.
