Dr. Mowafiq Alanazi is an Associate Director for the International Graduate Program Office at NPS. Prior to joining NPS, Mowafiq was an Associate Director for Student Leadership at NYU Abu Dhabi campus. He built and developed a comprehensive, inclusive leadership program for undergraduate students across disciplines.  

Dr. Alanazi served as the Middle Eastern Language & Arabic Studies Dean and Leadership Development instructor at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, California. As a Leadership Development Associate, Dr. Alanazi has provided strategic advice and expertise to the Command group, Chief of Staff and Provost on building a state-of-the-art leadership development center with a focus on strategic planning for core leadership development efforts. Through the center, he coordinated and executed a thorough needs assessment and analysis to train 1800 faculty members which significantly improved learning outcomes. 

From 2009-2017, Dr. Alanazi functioned as Division of Field Support Academic Associate Dean, where he was responsible for directing 100+ employees in 25 locations. In collaboration with site directors, regional directors, and faculty members, he cultivated a climate of academic excellence by managing curriculum development/instructional design and devising and promoting creative teaching methods. 

Dr. Alanazi received his Doctor of Education and M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Kansas. 

Mowafiq is married and has one daughter. He enjoys cooking and hosting friends for social events.
