Mr. Craig Coder (Craig) joined the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in February of 2024, after serving 3 years on the NPS campus as International Military Student Specialist (IMSS)/International Military Student Officer (IMSO) in DSCA’s Institute for Security Governance.  In his IMSO role, Mr. Coder serves as the primary point of contact for International Military Students undergoing training at the NPS and is responsible for the administrative coordination and management of academic, social, and cultural integration activities to ensure success of visiting international officers and civilian officials.

Prior to joining the Monterey based NPS and ISG teams, Mr. Coder worked for several years at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch, Germany, as an event coordinator and program planner following a full 24-year career in the United States Air Force.  He has extensive experience with International Military Students in the coordination and oversight of operations, logistics support planning, and execution of international Security Cooperation student programs.  Craig values the differences between culture and communication styles of the various student nationalities and enjoys bridging gaps in understanding to facilitate a student experience filled with new academic learning, new connections and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Mr. Coder obtained his Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management through the University of Maryland University College and is fluent in German.  Craig is married to his sweetheart Melanie, they have three children living in the United States and Germany with two grandchildren.  His hobbies include fine art pencil drawings and watercolor painting, as well as growing a small number of cactus plants and succulent houseplants.
