CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information) Theses
The DOD has discontinued the use of "FOUO" and has updated its guidance for handling sensitive data. Theses and dissertations containing sensitive information will be marked according to the new
CUI guidelines:
1. Fill out the Main Document Security menu of your thesis dashboard. It has been updated to reflect the new CUI regulations.
2. After making your CUI selections on your thesis dashboard, your thesis First 8 Pages file will automatically contain the CUI header and footer, along with the CUI designation indicator block.
3. Your thesis processor will add the matching header and footer to your thesis template.
4. Portion marking within your thesis is
optional on CUI theses. If you wish to portion mark your thesis, guidance is available on slide 16
