Cyber Security MS Programs

Cybersecurity  and Cyber Operations in the Computer Science Masters Degree Program

 

C3O supports two tracks within the Master of Computer Science Degree program: The Cyber Operations Track and Cybersecurity and Defense Track. With different advanced courses, these tracks offer an advanced educational package covering the concepts, issues, theories, and technologies that affect the secure processing, transference, and storage of digital information, as well as the use of cyberspace for cyber operations. Track courses begin with foundational cybersecurity topics, then progress to more in-depth coverage of such specialized areas as: Cyber Operations, Information System Security Engineering, Secure Protocols and Networks, Secure System Design.

Through the efforts of C3O, NPS has been certified by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a

  • National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), and a 
  • National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Reserach (CAE-R), and

by the NSA as a

  • National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO),

largely as a result of the curriculum provided in this track. The Computer Security Track is supported by C3O.

CAE CD Certificate

Program of Study

A specific program of study must be followed by students wishing to receive the National Centers of Academic Excellence Cybersecurity Defense (NCAE-CD) certificate. The Computer Science curriculum easily accommodates these requirements as part of its track system.

Students may choose to take additional courses beyond those listed in the program of study as part of their degree programs.

The certificate is issued through the Department of Computer Science. Students should contact the CSO and Cybersecurity track chair regarding program details and how to obtain a certificate following completion of the program of study.

 

CAE CO Certificate

A specific program of study must be followed by students wishing to receive the National Centers of Academic Excellence Cyber Operations (NCAE-CO) certificate. The Computer Science curriculum easily accommodates these requirements as part of its track system.
