Overview
Michael is a former US Army Foreign Area Officer (FAO) and Special Forces Officer, with experiences throughout Europe, as well as service in Africa and the Middle East. Michael has served at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Headquarters and at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Michael retired from the Army in 2022, having last served as the Commandant of the NATO School Oberammergau.

Michael regularly speaks and writes on energy security and geopolitical issues.
Michael is a NATO Certified Instructor and developed the US Army's first Energy Security Awareness Course for FAOs. Michael is currently developing the Dept of the Navy's Operational Energy I and II courses to increase understanding of the implications of energy on operations for the greater USN and USMC populations.
