MAJ Kris Zhea

Major Zhea is currently assigned to the Air Force Institute of Technology as part of an Intermediate Development Education program. Major Zhea attends classes at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA as a third quarter student where he is enrolled in the National Security Affairs Department. Major Zhea’s thesis work is in nuclear terrorism. Upon graduation he will receive a M.A. in Homeland Defense and Security.
Major Zhea is a Security Forces officer with over 19 years of service spanning the officer and enlisted crops as well as the active duty and reserve components. He has deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM. Major Zhea recently served as the squadron commander, 47th Security Forces Squadron, Laughlin AFB, TX and prior to that as an exchange officer to the Canadian Forces, 1 Canadian Air Division/Canadian NORAD Region HQ, CFB Winnipeg, Canada.
Major Zhea began his military career in 1987 by enlisting in the Air Force as a Security Specialist. His first assignment was with the 3906th Special Security Squadron; also known as the SAC Elite Guard; Strategic Air Command (SAC) HQ, Offutt AFB, NE. Upon graduating from Creighton University in 1996 he was commissioned through Air Force ROTC. After five years of service with the Air Force Nurse Corps, Major Zhea cross-trained into Security Forces.
