On behalf of Provost Dr. Scott Gartner, Faculty and NPS staff –
Congratulations on receiving your degrees today!

We are proud of what you have accomplished, and look forward to all that you will achieve back in the Fleet and operational forces.

Today, we were grateful for the opportunity to celebrate with our graduates in person once again, and with progressively more participation as we turn the corner on COVID. We enjoyed having another distinguished leader deliver the commencement remarks, Lieutenant General Matthew Glavy, Marine Corps Deputy Commandant for Information. His personal stories and insights about another great warrior and strategist, Colonel John Boyd and his philosophy of “To Do or To Be” will serve you well!

As I mentioned in my remarks, you are warrior-scholars, doers and innovators… and while your achievements add to the rich history of our institution, more importantly you are answering the call to action. In the midst of our joy today, we all are well aware that the world faces multiple security challenges that require “Strength in Unity” – challenges that you will likely be called upon to help resolve. As NPS graduates, you are well prepared to respond, and poised to make a great impact wherever you go as leaders of our nation’s defense forces, partner agencies and coalition forces.

You are needed in the world today. Know that NPS is here to help you now, and throughout your careers.  Your success is our mission!

Winter Quarter graduates, take pride in your accomplishments and in your new hard-earned status as NPS alumni – it is indeed well deserved!  Please enjoy the NPS graduation webpage which includes the graduates, awardees, videos featuring some of your classmates and more from NPS social media...

Your experiences have forged strong bonds of camaraderie and friendship. We are united by our common values and the liberties we collectively cherish. In concert with our allies around the world, we must and will continue to work to deter and defeat the adversaries of freedom.

Congratulations again, safe travels and all the best in your next tours!

With great respect and in abiding service,

Ann E. Rondeau, Ed.D.
Vice Admiral, U.S. Navy (Ret.)
President, Naval Postgraduate School
