Dr. Sulmaan Khan, who holds the Denison Chair in International History and Chinese Foreign Relations at the Fletcher School, Tufts University, is a leading expert on U.S.-China-Taiwan relations. He is the author of the acclaimed book The Struggle for Taiwan, which provides the first comprehensive analysis of the triangular relationship between the U.S., China, and Taiwan.

July 9, 2024 | The Future of Insurgencies and Radical Groups in Africa

Tune in to our third installment of CTX Conversations, which took place on July 9 at 12:00 PM PDT via Zoom. It was an engaging discussion featuring Dr. Tim Jones, a Donald R. Beall Defense Fellow in the Department of Defense Analysis at the Naval Postgraduate School, and Dr. Christopher Anzalone, a Research Assistant Professor with Middle East Studies and the Krulak Center for Innovation & Future Warfare at Marine Corps University who teaches on Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Anzalone is also an adjunct professor of history and government at George Mason University. He was formerly a research fellow with the International Security Program at Harvard University's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and a postdoctoral visiting scholar at the Center for Global Islamic Studies at George Mason University. Their discussion explored the current status, activities, and potential future plans of radical insurgent groups like al Shabaab in Africa.
