NPS, NFFE Local 1690 Bid Farewell to Longtime Union President
By PO3 Brian H. Abel
Pete Randazzo, longtime President of the National Federation of Federal Employees Local 1690, opens up to attendees during his retirement ceremony in the El Prado Room, Dec. 15. Randazzo was recognized with the Meritorious Civilian Service Award for his 22 years of service to NPS and its employees.
"There's a lot of emotions, but I absolutely know it was the right decision," said Randazzo. "I'm ready to start this new chapter in my life."
Randazzo says he plans to spend more time with his family, and may also do some traveling. One thing he definitely plans keeping up on, he says, is one of his favorite work routines.
"I have to maintain my running … It's the only healthy vice that I have, so definitely maintain my running with my friends, for my sanity," he explained. "The way we've lived our lives we don't try to plan it too far ahead."
After an emotional speech, Randazzo and his guests enjoyed NFFE's annual holiday party, and offered their former President best wishes.
"I really want to thank NPS and the entire community for allowing me to have 22 great years here," said Randazzo.
